How do you properly size a pair of combat boots? Should you knock the toe to get the foot forward and be able to touch the heel of the insole with 1 finger? I%26#039;ve heard this for hiking boots. I am supposed to go to marine OCS in about 6 months and wanted to prep myself by hiking %26amp; running in the proper boots, but wanted to get the correct size. I am normally a 11.5 wide in running shoes. Also, how do you properly tie them? I would assume that a normal bow would get caught on undergrowth.
How do you properly size and tie combat boots?
you wont be running in boots only running shoes. the military opted for running shoes after vietnam because of the jungle rot on our feet.i enlisted in 1972 and it was hard on my feet to run in boots.however me and others never gave it a second thought.place the sole of the boot against the sole of your foot and size like that allow 1/2 inch to an inch. a 12 would be fine for you since socks will take up the extra space.you tie your boots to the top and place the bow behind the tongue.
Reply:Start running because that%26#039;s all u are going to be doing pft test for a perfect score is 20 pull-up 100 crunches and 3 miles in 18Min%26#039;s for the boot if they fit comfortable and don%26#039;t cause you hot spots your good all boot have to be broken in and as for how to tie them you wrap the slack around the top of the boot tie it off and tuck then the pants are tucked over the boots with a boot band but don%26#039;t worry your drill instructor will teach you how to be a Marine good luck p.s. and when i say run i mean u will be running allot for a very long time have fun at OCS
Reply:u will probably want to drop a size since combat boots are bigger than running shoes. You want them to feel comfortable on your feet not too tight not too loose. Put them on and walk in them for a few minutes and see how they feel. You tuck the bow into the top of your boots.
Reply:do what you just have said/
Reply:after 6 years in the army i have been through a lot of boots. the best way to size them is to put them on and walk around for a couple of min. they should be snug but not tight. as far as lacing them its up to you army policy says left over right and every hole is used. i prefer to skip the first set of quick lace holes. the important thing about new boots is to break them in properly. the best way i have found to do that is to get them soaked with water and to wear them until they dry. this expands and contracts the leater in all the right places.
Reply:I don%26#039;t know how the Marines Ware the boots but I%26#039;m in the Army and have tied by boots by wrapping the laces once around the boot and then tie a Square knot and tucking in the rest of the lace.
